I was using my birthday money on CutECOsmetics about a month ago and in order to avoid paying shipping, I decided to pick up a lip balm instead. They’re always useful, relatively cheap, and would just bump me over the £30 mark in order to get free shipping. Basically, I paid for chap stick instead of shipping.
I came across the Crazy Rumors line and decided to try it out.
I picked up the Chocolate Strawberry one because first of all, yum, and second of all, I’d never heard of chocolate strawberry lip balm before.
The packaging itself is adorable. The entire line (they have loads of flavours) is very uniform, which I really like, and has a massive range of flavours.
In terms of scent, it’s divine. It honestly smells exactly the way a chocolate dipped fresh strawberry tastes when you bite into it. When I lived in Toronto, I regularly visited the Eaton Centre and bought packets of fresh, chocolate dipped strawberries. I assure you, I’m very competent on the subject. In terms of taste, it’s slightly sweet, but a generally mild flavor, which is nice because it’s not distracting or overpowering when you occasionally lick your lips.
In terms of ingredients, it’s cruelty free, vegan, 100% natural, and has all the ingredients on the tube. They’re all pronounceable and easily identifiable and some are marked as organic as well.
Okay, so it smells nice, it’s vegan, it’s natural, but how does it work?
Very well. I’ve had vegan lip balms before that smelled nice enough but were sort of like dragging an actual crayon across your lips in terms of consistency. This basically just feels like any other nice lip balm you might own. It’s not super melty and it goes on smoothly, and once on your lips, it’s smooth, not sticky or unpleasant.
There are generally 2 kinds of lip balms, waxy ones, and fatty ones. Waxy lip balms keep moisture in your lips. They don’t really help if your lips are already chapped as they’re more a preventative measure. Fatty lip balms are the ones that fix chapped lips. Of course, if your lips are super dry and chapped, you might want to a. drink more water, and b. put a fatty lip balm on with a waxy one over top to seal everything in, if that makes sense.
Crazy Rumors does a fatty, moisturizing lip balm. So if you have chapped lips and are looking for something vegan, closer to the consistency of a normal synthetic lip balm, and with a massive range of flavours, this is probably what you’re looking for. I think I’m probably going to have to buy more from them, I really don’t think I can resist.
